Celebrate Spring in the South at Art in Bloom at the New Orleans Museum of Art

Art in Bloom NOMA

Spring in the South just hits different — and in New Orleans, it blooms in full color at The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA).

For another year, the NOMA is once again teaming up with the Garden Study Club of New Orleans for the city’s most anticipated floral fête: Art in Bloom Presented by First Horizon Bank. From March 19–22, the museum transforms into a living, breathing garden as jaw-dropping floral installations spill across all three floors.

Designed by local garden clubs, interior designers, professional florists, and ikebana artists, each arrangement draws inspiration from NOMA’s permanent collection and this year’s playful theme, “Marsh Madness.” Think fine art meets fresh florals — and yes, it’s as Instagrammable as it sounds.

Beyond the beauty, this beloved New Orleans spring event supports something meaningful. Proceeds fund NOMA’s exhibitions, arts education programs, and community initiatives, along with projects led by the Garden Study Club throughout the city. It’s culture, community, and creativity all wrapped into one elevated experience.

The week kicks off with an exclusive patron and preview party on March 18, where guests get first access to the floral displays — plus a curated culinary lineup from some of the city’s most iconic restaurants. Expect bites from Arnaud’s Restaurant, Galatoire’s Restaurant, Mr. B’s Bistro, Café NOMA, Café Degas, Creole Creamery, and more — with cocktails courtesy of the Sazerac Company. It’s giving garden party glamour with a side of Creole flavor.

The celebration also features a highly anticipated silent auction spotlighting works from standout artists, including Pippin Frisbie-Calder, Dapper Bruce Lafitte, George Rodrigue Michalopoulos, Hunt Slonem, and Tim Trapolin, among others. Frisbie-Calder’s environmentally inspired painting — featured on this year’s invitation — is already a highlight, blending art and environmental stewardship in a way that feels especially relevant to South Louisiana.

Design lovers won’t want to miss floral designer T.J. McGrath, who continues the popular Art in Bloom lecture series at NOMA’s Lapis Center for the Arts. Known for his sustainable, foam-free approach to floral design, McGrath champions seasonal botanicals and mindful craftsmanship — a refreshing take in today’s eco-conscious luxury space.

The week wraps with a chic luncheon and fashion show at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in City Park, featuring cuisine by Ralph Brennan Catering & Events and a runway presentation sponsored by SOSUSU with designs from Edeline Lee. Art, fashion, florals, and food — the ultimate New Orleans lifestyle moment.

If you’re searching for the best spring events in New Orleans, art exhibitions in Louisiana, or simply an excuse to romanticize the season, Art in Bloom at NOMA is the place to be. It’s a reminder that culture doesn’t just hang on walls — sometimes, it blossoms right in front of you.
