Frisco is quickly becoming a destination to watch, and with all the buzz around new attractions, the city has plenty of reason for a visit next summer.

Set to open in 2026, Universal Kids Resort is a first-of-its-kind theme park built specifically for families with young children. It’s one of the most anticipated developments coming to North Texas, featuring four immersive lands inspired by beloved Universal characters like Shrek, Puss in Boots, and Illumination’s Minions. Each area is designed to spark creativity, exploration, and imaginative play, all in a safe, family-friendly environment.

DreamWorks Land

Step into Shrek’s Swamp, dance through the colorful world of Trolls, and join the action with Kung Fu Panda and friends on exciting adventures.

Illumination’s Minion Land

Get ready for a whole lot of mischief! Inspired by the Despicable Me films, this zone is packed with interactive fun, quirky surprises, and plenty of Minion mayhem.

Dino Playland

Little explorers can travel back in time to dig for fossils, meet friendly dinosaurs, and roam a prehistoric playground made just for them.

Adventure Land

A whimsical world bursting with creativity, where storytelling comes to life through hands-on play, immersive rides, and endless imagination.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together,” said Sarah Gibbon, VP & Executive Producer, Universal Creative. “At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families and friends. They’ll be able to do all this while being fully immersed in some of their favorite stories – ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy.”

The resort will also feature a 300-room on-site themed hotel, giving families the chance to stay right in the heart of the magic and extend the fun beyond the park gates.
